Dove Cameron is opening up about how her queer identity is influencing the way she’s thinking about her future wedding, stressing that authenticity and self-expression will be central to whatever she ultimately wears on the big day.
In a recent interview, the actress and singer shared that although she hasn’t gotten married yet, finding a wedding look that feels inclusive of her queerness is already top of mind. Cameron, who is engaged to Måneskin frontman Damiano David, explained that she wants her outfit to reflect the “fullness” of who she is rather than conforming to traditional expectations.
“I’m going to have to figure out a way to design a dress that feels inclusive of the fullness of who I am,” Cameron said, noting that she feels energetically split between masculine and feminine expression. She added that leaning too far in either direction wouldn’t feel right. “If it’s all suits, I might look back and think, ‘Well, f—.’ And if it’s all hyper-feminine, I might feel the same way.”
Cameron, who publicly came out as queer in 2020, emphasized that her goal isn’t to make a statement for the sake of it, but to feel genuinely like herself. “Your wedding should be about you,” she said, explaining that she wants her look to be grounded in comfort, identity, and honesty rather than rigid gender norms.
The conversation reflects a broader cultural shift as more couples rethink traditional wedding aesthetics in favor of personal expression. For Cameron, that means allowing space for fluidity and rejecting the idea that she has to choose one side of her identity over another.
As she continues planning for the future, Cameron’s approach underscores how milestones like weddings can be opportunities for queer visibility and self-affirmation — not through spectacle, but through authenticity.
