During a recent interview on the TODAY show, Robbie GK spoke candidly about the strong chemistry he shares with co-star François Arnaud. The actor revealed that their connection was evident from their very first chemistry read.
“Well, I think our chemistry from the start… I did multiple chemistry reads with a couple of different actors, and I remember when I did the chemistry read with François over Zoom — that’s always a little difficult to do — something just felt different,” Robbie said. He added that he immediately texted Jacob, the show’s creator and producer, noting that the read felt special.
Robbie and Arnaud star as a couple in the hit LGBTQ+ series Heated Rivalry, which has drawn praise for its nuanced portrayal of love and identity within the high-pressure world of professional hockey.
In the show, Arnaud plays Scott Hunter, a closeted gay hockey player navigating the challenges of coming out in a traditionally masculine environment, while Robbie plays Kip Grady, Scott’s supportive and charismatic love interest. Their storyline has become a fan favorite, with viewers applauding the authenticity and depth of their performances.
Robbie also reflected on filming some of the sexier scenes in the series, explaining that shooting in the same order as the show helped the actors ease into their roles. “At the beginning, you’re kind of nervous and just meeting each other, and it worked out really well that way because our on-screen chemistry kind of translated to our real-life friendship building as well,” he said.
The series has been praised not just for its romance, but for its thoughtful exploration of LGBTQ+ issues in sports, and the pairing of Arnaud and Robbie has quickly become one of the most talked-about couples in modern television.
