Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe has confirmed that one hidden secret remains undiscovered in the game, nearly a decade after its release, and he is not confident any player will ever uncover it.

This month marks ten years since the farming simulator first launched, growing from a small indie project into a global success with tens of millions of sales and a devoted community.

While the developer is currently focused on his next title, Haunted Chocolatier, he has been discussing plans for Stardew Valley’s upcoming 1.7 update and reflecting on the game’s long history.

During an interview with IGN, ConcernedApe revealed that a mystery he planted in the game has never been solved. “There is still a secret that no one has ever found. I don’t think they ever will,” he said.

The creator declined to specify what the secret involves, but hinted that it takes the form of a message rather than a hidden item or mechanic.

He explained that the clue reveals something that is no longer accurate within the game’s evolving lore. “Maybe I’ll reveal it someday, but the problem with the secret is that it’s basically a secret message in the game, and it reveals something that actually isn’t even true anymore,” he said.

ConcernedApe suggested the mystery is concealed in a way that prevents data miners from detecting it. According to the developer, anything placed directly in the code would have been discovered quickly, but visual elements can hide information more effectively. “If you hide it in art or something, people can’t really discover that as easily. They have to see it,” he explained.

The comments have prompted renewed curiosity among fans, many of whom are already re-examining environmental details and artwork for overlooked clues.

Despite the enthusiasm, the creator remains doubtful. “I feel like no one will ever find it, but I hope someone does. It’d be interesting,” he said.
