Five get death penalty in robbery-murder case

Additional District and Sessions Judge Rawalpindi, Afshan Ejaz Soofi, announced the verdict in the high-profile robbery and murder case registered at Rawat police station, sentencing five convicts to death after the charges were proven.
The court awarded a total of 55 years of imprisonment, imposed fines amounting to Rs60m, and ordered payment of Rs10m as compensation.
The judge declared robbery accompanied by brutal murder a heinous crime, stating that the convicts deserved no leniency and must remain on the gallows until death.
The main convict, Abdullah, was awarded the death sentence twice for murder and robbery, fined Rs20m, and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment for forcibly entering a house at midnight with the intent to commit robbery.
The remaining four convicts were each sentenced to death for murder with a fine of Rs10m. They were also sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment for robbery, fined Rs10m each, given seven years' imprisonment for midnight house trespass with intent to rob, and 10 years' imprisonment with a fine of Rs500k each for possession of looted property.
