Andrew Stanton’s live-action sci-fi In the Blink of an Eye explores human connection and premieres Feb 27

Andrew Stanton, known for his work on Pixar hits Toy Story and WALL-E, is returning to live-action filmmaking with his new sci-fi drama In the Blink of an Eye. 

The film, set to debut on Hulu on February 27, 2026, follows three interconnected storylines spanning thousands of years, exploring themes of human connection, birth, death, and the passage of time.

The cast brings together a diverse group of talent, including Rashida Jones, Kate McKinnon, Daveed Diggs, Jorge Vargas, and Tanaya Beatty. Jones, widely recognized for her role in Parks & Recreation and her work on Black Mirror, also co-wrote and co-directed the documentary Quincy. McKinnon gained fame on Saturday Night Live and recently starred in the dark comedy The Roses. Diggs, a Tony-winning Broadway performer, is known for Hamilton and the acclaimed Snowpiercer series.

The film’s official synopsis describes it as “three storylines, spanning thousands of years, intersect and reflect on hope, connection, and the circle of life,” emphasizing Stanton’s focus on life’s universal moments. Jared Ian Goldman and screenwriter Colby Day serve as producers on the project, marking Stanton’s first live-action feature since John Carter in 2012.

In the Blink of an Eye is set to premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival before its wider streaming release on Hulu. Stanton’s return to live-action demonstrates a continued exploration of ambitious storytelling, combining his signature emotional depth with innovative narrative structure.
