Amtrak passenger captures ‘Narnia’-like frozen gangway during New York deep freeze
An Amtrak passenger traveling through New York documented an unusual winter scene after snow leaked into a train gangway during a powerful cold snap late last month.
Timothy Jackson told Storyful that he was aboard a night train traveling from New York City to Albany on January 27 when he noticed the temperature inside the carriage suddenly dropping.
“It felt a little cold,” Jackson said, explaining that he looked up and realized snow was blowing into the gangway from the other side of the train.
Video footage shared by Jackson shows the narrow passage coated in snow and ice, creating what he described as a scene reminiscent of Narnia. The frozen corridor appeared almost otherworldly as the train continued its journey through the storm-hit region.

The incident occurred amid a major winter system that brought freezing temperatures and snowfall across much of New York.
According to the National Weather Service, February 2 marked the first time in 10 days that temperatures in New York City climbed above freezing.
