Savannah Guthrie was absent from the Today show Monday as her family searches for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been reported missing in Catalina Foothills, Arizona. Speaking through her co-hosts Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones, Savannah thanked the public for their support and urged anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” Savannah said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s office at 520-351-4900.”
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31 near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs around 150 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes. Authorities have classified her as a “missing vulnerable adult,” but noted she has “no signs of cognitive issues” and is “very alert” and of “very sound mind.”
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos described the scene at Nancy’s home as “very concerning,” prompting a comprehensive search involving infrared-equipped helicopters, drones, customs and border protection assistance, and notification to the FBI. Investigators have withheld some details to avoid interfering with the ongoing case.
Savannah Guthrie has been a co-host on Today since 2012, alongside Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Carson Daly, and Jenna Bush Hager. She has often spoken publicly about her close bond with her mother, describing Nancy’s support and confidence as instrumental in her personal and professional life.
The situation has drawn widespread attention on social media, with viewers expressing concern and offering support for the Guthrie family. Law enforcement continues to seek any information that could help locate Nancy safely.
