Apple TV+ has officially renewed Severance for a third season, with production expected to begin in July 2026 and a release anticipated in early 2027.

The critically acclaimed series has become the streaming service’s most-watched show, surpassing Ted Lasso, with over three billion streaming minutes recorded since Season 2 premiered in January.

Ben Stiller, who directs and produces Severance, said: “Making Severance has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of. While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

Creator Dan Erickson added: “The idea of getting to make more Severance with the greatest cast and crew on Earth is more thrilling to me than all the world’s finger traps combined. I can’t wait to continue spreading woe, frolic, dread and malice with these truly incredible people.”

The main cast is expected to return, including Adam Scott as Mark, Britt Lower as Helly/Helena, Zach Cherry as Dylan, Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel, Tramell Tillman as Milchick, Dichen Lachman as Gemma/Ms Casey, Jen Tullock as Devon, and Michael Siberry as Jame Eagan. The roles of Burt (Christopher Walken) and Irving (John Turturro) remain uncertain following Season 2’s finale.

Season 3 is set to continue the story where Season 2 ended, with Mark and Helly navigating the halls of Lumon after Gemma’s escape. Stiller described the upcoming season as “a lot darker and more dystopian than we’ve seen,” while emphasising that the story will follow the creators’ vision rather than fan theories.

With its blend of suspense, complex storytelling, and strong viewership, Severance remains a standout series for Apple TV+, and anticipation for Season 3 continues to build among fans worldwide.
