ISLAMABAD: In violation of the academic requirements, a graduate has been appointed at the highest post in Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), said an official on Friday. Atif Kayani, the newly appointed chairman as an additional diploma in hotel management. “It is unfortunate that several highly experienced PHDs and M.Phils are working under his authority,” he said. Three years back, the current government appointed him as the Chairman Private School Regularity Authority (PSRA) and the owners of private schools had shown their concern over his appointment. Federal Directorate of Education is the highest authority on education in the country and the appointment at such a high post should be that of a highly educated person, he added. When The Express Tribune contacted DG FDE Atif Kayani, he accepted that he was a “mere graduate” and that the “PM had to use special privileges to appoint me”.
