Charli XCX sparked fresh buzz when she addressed whether she’d ever record a theme song for the next James Bond film, candidly admitting she isn’t sure the iconic franchise and her modern pop style are a perfect match, but she’s not closing the door on the possibility.

In a recent interview on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show, the British singer and songwriter, known for hit albums and genre‑bending work, was asked if a 007 theme was something she’d consider. “I got to say, I don’t think that I am built for that,” Charli responded, pointing to her characteristic use of AutoTune and contemporary pop production as reasons she’s unsure her sound would fit the traditional Bond aesthetic. “I probably sing with too much AutoTune to do a James Bond,” she added with a laugh.

Yet Charli tempered her hesitation with an open‑minded twist on the question. “Never say never,” she said, noting she’d be receptive if the Bond team ever reached out, even jokingly calling on franchise producer Barbara Broccoli to give her a call. “I’m open to it if they want to call me, which they won’t,” she said with a grin.

The Bond franchise has a long legacy of memorable theme songs from a wide range of artists, from Adele and Sam Smith to Madonna and Billie Eilish, each bringing a distinctive voice to the series’ storied musical history. Arguably one of the most recognizable recent examples is Billie Eilish’s atmospheric track for No Time to Die, which combined cinematic drama with her signature vocal style.

Charli’s remarks come as she continues promoting her work on the soundtrack for Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, and appears in her mockumentary The Moment. She also shared enthusiasm for exploring more opportunities in film and music beyond just singing, including acting and producing.

While the next 007 movie is still shaping up, with director Denis Villeneuve officially attached and the search for a new James Bond yet to be announced, Charli’s comments hint at how contemporary artists view the challenge and prestige of contributing to one of cinema’s most iconic musical traditions.
