The Punjab government has launched an integrated Case Flow Management System (CFMS) with the Prison Management Information System (PMIS).
The project has been completed with the cooperation of the United States Embassy's Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) and technical assistance from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order's Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique said while addressing the inaugural ceremony that the integrated system would help make justice faster, fairer and more transparent for the people of the province. The project is funded by the UNODC in partnership with the provincial government. He said the project costing $1.31 million had strengthened digital case management as linking prosecution and prison record was crucial.
This system will enable real-time tracking of cases and prisoners, which will improve coordination between departments. Through a public access module, families can securely check cases and detention status online. It is expected that more than 2.2 million users, especially those from vulnerable and marginalised backgrounds, will benefit from this transparency and ease of use every year.
