Aya Tanjali, a TikTok influencer with around six million followers, has drawn widespread criticism after comments she made about relationships involving wealthy men circulated online.

In a video that has since spread across multiple social media platforms, Tanjali suggested that women who date rich and successful men should accept infidelity and not retaliate or leave the relationship.

The remarks prompted strong reactions, with many users disputing her characterisation of modern and historical relationship dynamics.

In the clip, Tanjali argued that men have cheated for generations and claimed women in earlier eras were expected to tolerate it. “No shade, but something that academics said … whenever they man cheat, they used to hold it in,” she said.

She went on to state that once a man acquires wealth and status, cheating is inevitable and that partners should accept it. “You’re supposed to hold it in as a woman,” she added.

Tanjali also said that being in a committed relationship does not necessarily prevent someone from seeking others, framing infidelity as an unavoidable behaviour.

The comments were quickly met with backlash, with critics arguing that her statements normalised betrayal and promoted unhealthy relationship standards.

Many social media users responded by emphasising the importance of trust, self-respect and mutual commitment over financial status. Some dismissed her comments as uninformed, while others said wealth should not excuse dishonesty in relationships.

The controversy also renewed discussion around Tanjali’s past relationship with streamer Young Dabo, which ended amid mutual allegations of infidelity. Some online commentators referenced her previous experiences as context for her views.

As of publication, Tanjali has not issued a follow-up statement addressing the criticism.
