KARACHI: NBP defeated Baloch FC 1-0 in the Pakistan Premier Football Federation (PPFL) match yesterday, while Afghan FC drew 0-0 with HBL in Karachi.

Mohammad Asif scored the winning goal for NBP in the 29th minute of the match. With the result, NBP moves up to fourth place with 21 points after 11 matches while Baloch FC remain rooted in 13th position.

Meanwhile, with a stalemate, HBL remain third in the league with 22 points after 12 matches and Afghan FC sit fifth with 19 points after 10 matches.

Afghan FC optimistic about chances

According to Jadeed Khan Pathan, captain of Afghan FC, this has been the club’s most successful run so far in the league. Pathan said that with more than 18 matches to play, the team has a good chance at clinching the title.

“We have ended the last two seasons in the top-five and I feel that this could be our year,” Pathan told The Express Tribune. “Last year we lost focus in the beginning but then won most of our matches towards the end. We are drawing inspiration from that.

“We come from a region where football is taken very seriously but we don’t have proper facilities. Despite all the challenges, though, we play with passion.”
