Louis Tomlinson has revealed that one of the most personal tracks on his new album will be emotionally challenging to sing on stage.

The song, written in memory of his late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne, was shaped by grief following Payne’s death in October 2024.

Speaking during a recent studio interview, Tomlinson said the loss made it difficult to write about anything else. He explained that grief has a way of eclipsing ordinary emotions, forcing him to confront feelings that felt too heavy to translate into music at first.

Some songs on the album address that pain directly, while others reflect it in more subtle ways.

The singer shared that while the track remains deeply personal, he deliberately avoided overexplaining its meaning. He hopes listeners will find their own comfort in it, describing music as something that can heal without being fully spelled out.

Although he admitted the song will be tough to perform live, Tomlinson said it remains important for him to include it in his shows. For him, it captures an honest snapshot of love, loss, and the weight that comes with both.

His new album, How Did I Get Here?, marks a reflective chapter in his career, shaped by personal loss and a determination to keep moving forward while honoring the past.
