Rihanna has marked the 10th anniversary of her eighth studio album, ANTI, reflecting on its impact, longevity and achievements in a social media post shared on Wednesday.
The Bajan singer joined the popular “2016” Instagram trend with a short video montage celebrating the album’s release, captioning the post, “my 2016 post wins,” followed by, “happy ANTIversary 🙏🏿🎈⏳.” The clip featured photographs and footage from the era, alongside lists highlighting major milestones, awards and Recording Industry Association of America certifications earned by the project.
Released on January 28, 2016, ANTI debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced several successful singles, including “Work,” “Needed Me,” and “Love on the Brain.” The album defied conventional genre boundaries and signalled a creative shift in Rihanna’s artistry.
According to the RIAA, ‘ANTI’ is currently certified sextuple Platinum. Individual tracks have also received updated certifications, with “Love on the Brain” now Diamond-certified and “Needed Me” reaching 12-times Platinum. The album is also recognised as the longest-charting album by a Black female artist in history, spending more than 508 weeks on the Billboard 200.
The anniversary arrives amid continued anticipation for Rihanna’s next studio album, commonly referred to by fans as R9, though no release date has been announced.
