Bruce Springsteen condemns ‘King Trump’s private army’ in new ICE protest song

Bruce Springsteen released a protest song criticizing Trump’s immigration crackdown

Bruce Springsteen released a new protest song Wednesday criticizing President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown and dedicating it to Minneapolis after two fatal shootings by federal agents.

The song, Streets of Minneapolis, was announced in an Instagram post and dedicated to “the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors,” as well as Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who were killed less than three weeks apart.

In the lyrics, Springsteen refers to “King Trump’s private army from the DHS,” accusing federal agents of enforcing immigration policy while leaving “bloody footprints where mercy should have stood.”

The White House dismissed the song, with spokesperson Abigail Jackson saying the administration was focused on immigration enforcement rather than responding to what she called inaccurate criticism.

Springsteen, a longtime critic of Trump, also references racial profiling and disputes the administration’s claims that the shootings were acts of self-defense.

The song ends with a chant calling for ICE to leave Minneapolis, as backlash over the federal presence in the city continues.
