Gas Theft: SNGPL takes action against four suspects
Four persons allegedly involved in illegal sale of gas to as many as 219 houses in sector F-7/4 for the last 3 years
ISLAMABAD:
The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Friday registered a first information report (FIR) against four persons, who were allegedly involved in illegal sale of gas to as many as 219 houses in sector F-7/4 (katchi abadi) for the last three years.
The SNGPL task force came to know of the activity while digging for possible leakage in the sector. “The personnel of the task force were threatened by the men found stealing gas,” said an SNGPL official. The suspects had been stealing gas from the direct line and supplying it to the houses by charging Rs700 per month.”The company has demanded Rs12 million as compensation for the gas theft from the suspects, according to the FIR lodged against the brothers Mushtaq, Ishaq and Shaukat and Bashir Masih.
