Murder convicts get death, life terms
Judicial Commission’s subcommittee proposes that reserved judgments must be announced within 90 days
Additional District and Sessions Judges on Wednesday awarded sentences of death, life imprisonment, and compensation totalling Rs1 million to two convicts found guilty in separate murder cases.
The compensation will be recovered by selling the convicts' movable and immovable property.
In one case, the court ordered that the condemned prisoner be hanged by the neck until death. The Additional District and Sessions Judge Rawalpindi sentenced the convict, Waheed, to death along with a fine of Rs1 million as compensation. The convict had brutally stabbed a citizen to death without provocation in the limits of Dhamial Police Station in September 2023.
In a separate case, the Additional District and Sessions Judge Gujar Khan sentenced the accused, Nazabat Ali, to life imprisonment and imposed a compensation of Rs1m.
