Blind Side actor Quinton Aaron opens eyes and breathes partially on his own following blood infection

Actor Quinton Aaron has regained consciousness after being placed on life support following a serious medical emergency, according to TMZ.

The 41-year-old actor, best known for portraying Michael Oher in the 2009 film The Blind Side, collapsed at his home in Atlanta, Georgia, last week and was rushed to hospital. TMZ reported on Monday that Aaron had been put on life support while doctors treated him for a blood infection.

Later the same day, Aaron’s wife, Margarita, shared a positive update on his condition. She told TMZ that her husband was “partially breathing on his own,” adding that he had opened his eyes and was able to give a thumbs-up. She also said doctors were still working to determine the underlying cause of his health crisis.

“He’s showing a lot of improvement,” Margarita said, expressing optimism about his recovery. “We all have faith in God that he will walk out of here fully recovered.”

A GoFundMe campaign was launched over the weekend to help cover Aaron’s medical expenses and has already exceeded its $35,000 goal. The fundraiser’s organizer, Veterans Aid Network, confirmed that Aaron has regained some movement and sensation, noting that while he remains on life support and continues to undergo tests, he faces a lengthy recovery. According to the update, Aaron will likely require a wheelchair and physical therapy after his release from hospital to relearn how to walk.

Aaron has previously spoken openly about ongoing health challenges. In 2025, he revealed that he had lost approximately 200 pounds during a weight loss journey, crediting Margarita for supporting him mentally, physically, and emotionally. In an interview with TMZ last year, he described his wife as a crucial source of strength who helped him overcome depression and improve his overall well-being.
