Actress Jaime King has spoken out after her husband Austin Sosa unexpectedly filed for divorce, saying she had no idea it was coming and believed they were working on their marriage.

King, best known for roles in Hart of Dixie and White Chicks, revealed that Sosa’s court filing on January 22 came as a shock because they had been together the night before and she thought the relationship was improving. “I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere,” she said, underlining how unprepared she was for the legal move.

The 46‑year‑old actress also addressed rumours circulating online suggesting her split was linked to sightings with another man, insisting those interactions were strictly professional. She clarified, “Any recent interactions being referenced publicly were strictly professional business meetings and have no connection to this private matter.”

King said her current focus remains on her work and, above all, her children, asking for privacy as she navigates the personal and emotional aftermath of the separation. “This is deeply personal and should remain private, and I hope people will stop making assumptions — particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinise women simply for doing their jobs,” she added.

The couple had announced their engagement in July 2025, though details about their private wedding were not made public. King was previously married to filmmaker Kyle Newman, with whom she shares two sons; that marriage ended in 2023 after a long legal process.
