The ongoing legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has taken a new turn following the emergence of alleged private messages that suggest the actress was aware of questions Baldoni raised about her weight during filming.
Lively and Baldoni worked together on It Ends With Us, the screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, with Baldoni serving as both director and co-star. While the film generated significant anticipation, tensions behind the scenes reportedly escalated, eventually leading to a legal battle that has drawn widespread industry attention.
According to reports, messages dated April 2023 and later submitted as evidence indicate that Lively referenced Baldoni contacting her personal trainer to ask about her weight ahead of filming an intimate scene.
In the messages, Lively reportedly explained that Baldoni cited concerns about his back and bone density, claiming he wanted to ensure he could safely lift her during the scene. She later vented privately about the interaction, referring to him as “an actual donkey".
She further claimed that the inquiry into her weight was particularly upsetting given that she had recently given birth before filming began. Lively’s legal team has characterized the alleged behavior as invasive and unprofessional.
Baldoni has denied any intent to demean or body-shame his co-star. His legal representatives have argued that the inquiry was made strictly for practical reasons related to a scripted lift scene and his own physical limitations, not as a commentary on Lively’s appearance.
Lively’s trainer, Don Saladio, has also gone on record stating that he felt uncomfortable receiving the call and declined to share any information regarding his client’s weight. He has said that he informed Lively of the interaction, describing her reaction as hurt and embarrassed.
The case remains ongoing, with both sides maintaining sharply different interpretations of the events.
As the legal proceedings continue, the dispute has sparked broader conversations in Hollywood about professional boundaries, body autonomy, and conduct on film sets.
