Kids’ YouTube star Ms. Rachel has issued a public apology after she was seen liking an antisemitic comment on Instagram, saying the interaction was an accident caused by a misclick while trying to remove the remark.
Rachel Griffin Accurso, known online as Ms. Rachel, addressed the controversy after screenshots circulated showing her account had liked a comment that included hateful language toward Jewish people.
The comment appeared under a post in which Accurso had shared a message advocating for global humanitarian causes.
According to Accurso, she believed she had deleted the offensive comment and only later realized it had been mistakenly liked instead.
In a follow-up explanation, she said the error occurred while she was tapping quickly on her phone and attempting to remove the comment.
“I delete antisemitic comments any time I see them,” Accurso wrote, adding that she is firmly against all forms of hate. She emphasized that she does not agree with the sentiment expressed in the comment and said she was deeply distressed by the misunderstanding.
The educator later shared an emotional video addressing the situation directly, reiterating that the interaction was unintentional. She stated that she has Jewish family members and friends and stressed that antisemitism goes against her values.
Reactions online were mixed, with some supporters defending her and accepting her explanation, while others criticized her handling of the situation and questioned how the mistake occurred. The incident sparked broader discussion about accountability, online engagement, and the scrutiny faced by public figures with young audiences.
Ms. Rachel, whose educational videos for toddlers and young children have amassed millions of followers and views, concluded her apology by acknowledging the impact of the incident and expressing regret for any confusion or harm caused.
