KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah highlighted his government's education priorities, stressing the need to expand access, enhance teacher quality, and bring out-of-school children into the education system.

Keeping in view the excellent academic standards of Beaconhouse School System, he suggested that Beaconhouse manage government-owned schools through the public-private partnership scheme.

He was speaking at Beaconhouse's golden jubilee celebration at its PECHS Campus, commemorating 50 years of outstanding service in education. The chief minister lauded the institution's journey from a small Montessori in 1975 to one of the world's largest private education networks, now educating more than 400,000 students in Pakistan and abroad.

Addressing the ceremony, the chief minister began by offering a dua for the shuhada of the Gul Plaza incident, expressing solidarity with the bereaved families before paying rich tribute to Beaconhouse's visionary leadership and sustained commitment to quality and inclusive education.

Those present on the occasion included Senator Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, former foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, former federal minister Javed Jabbar, former federal minister Vice Chancellor SZABIST, Shehnaz Wazir Ali, former minister of state, Wajid Jawad, officers of education department Afzal Ahmed, Rafia Mallah, BSS COO Ali Ahmad Khan, and Group Director Ali Raza, teachers and senior students.

CM Murad commended the publication of Beaconhouse's commemorative book, Eik Dafa Ka Zikar Hai or Once Upon a Time. This was the culmination of a project launched more than two years ago by Beaconhouse School System for the purpose of strengthening national integration.

The publication brings together stories told to children of Beaconhouse by their grandmothers who in turn had heard them from their grandmothers, drawing on folklore and oral narrative to connect generations.

Speaking on the occasion, Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, Founder Chairperson Beaconhouse, reflected on the institution's journey over five decades and the responsibility that comes with scale and continuity.

Elaborating further on the launch of Once Upon a Time/Eik Dafa ka Zikar Hai, she emphasised Beaconhouse's belief in education as a force that extends beyond classrooms, shaping character, values, and social responsibility across generations.

Beaconhouse, she added, has made a contribution towards promoting the soft image of Pakistan when it was being portrayed in a negative light by interested quarters, by having successfully operated schools worldwide, providing employment to thousands of Pakistanis abroad as well.

CEO Beaconhouse, Kasim Kasuri spoke about sustainability as a critical strategic intent guiding the organisation's future direction.

As part of this commitment, Beaconhouse has launched a Green Pakistan initiative involving the distribution of 1.5 million saplings through multiple channels and partner organisations across the country.

Kasim Kasuri stressed that Beaconhouse teachers are contributing over 10 hours each of training for teachers of schools serving underserved and underprivileged communities across Pakistan, collectively offering more than a 100,000 hours of teacher training. The event concluded with reflections by former teachers and a student tribute to Nasreen Kasuri, underscoring the continuity between Beaconhouse's past, present, and future.
