Bruno Mars: Sing the night away

Bruno Mars sings for Breaking Dawn soundtrack.

“It Will Rain” by Bruno Mars will be the first song from the upcoming soundtrack album for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1, the film’s studio Summit Entertainment announced on September 22.

While the song itself has not yet been released, Mars is already known for his fusion of pop, R&B, reggae and soul influences in songs like “Grenade” and “Millionaire”. Fans of Mars and the Twilight franchise don’t have to wait long to hear the song which will be released on September 27.

The cover artwork features a silhouette of a man featuring Mars’ trademark quiff hairstyle, sitting in a chair with an umbrella against a colourful blurred backdrop with the song title scrawled boldly in black.

The announcement adds another feather in the singer-songwriter’s hat. After a string of successes this year for Mars’, which include several Grammy wins and singles from his debut solo album Doo-Wops and Hooligans topping charts in the US and internationally, the soundtrack has enabled him to associate his name with a prolific brand like Twilight. The cult following of vampire the series is now more than keen to give a listen to the upcoming song which is reported to have Mars’ signature style to it.

“It Will Rain” will be available worldwide on iTunes on September 27 and in the UK on October 31. The full Breaking Dawn — Part 1 soundtrack album will be available on iTunes on November 8. Until now, the studio has not confirmed which other artists will be featured on the soundtrack.
