Celebrities react to Brooklyn Beckham allegations against parents
Several high-profile figures have reacted after Brooklyn Beckham made a series of serious allegations against his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, publicly detailing what he described as years of emotional conflict and interference in his marriage.
The 26-year-old shared multiple posts on his Instagram Stories accusing his parents of repeatedly attempting to undermine his relationship with his wife, actor Nicola Peltz Beckham, whom he married in 2022. Brooklyn claimed the situation had persisted since before their wedding and said he felt forced to speak out after years of remaining silent, alleging that his parents and their representatives continued to brief the media about family matters.
Broadcaster Susanna Reid described the situation as “utterly tragic” while discussing the allegations on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, adding that the claims appeared so severe that reconciliation could prove extremely difficult. Her co-host Kate Garraway echoed the sentiment, saying it was not about image or reputation but the breakdown of family relationships that was most distressing.
Other celebrities have also commented on the unfolding drama. Singer Lily Allen shared an image on social media that reimagined the cover art of her album West End Girl with Brooklyn’s face in place of her own, a move widely interpreted as a gesture of support. Reality television personality GK Barry posted that the Beckham household was likely in “pure panic” following Brooklyn’s statement, describing it as a decisive moment.
Irish television presenter Vogue Williams also responded in a video shared online, saying she was shocked by Brooklyn’s comments and saddened by the situation. While expressing affection for the Beckham family, she said it was painful to see such a public family breakdown, according to comments circulated on social media.
In his statement, Brooklyn alleged multiple incidents that he said contributed to the estrangement. These included claims that his mother behaved inappropriately during his wedding, that his wife was disrespected by family members, and that Nicola was excluded from David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration. He also accused his parents of pressuring him to sign away rights to his name ahead of the wedding and claimed disputes over wedding arrangements led to further conflict.
Brooklyn further alleged that his parents have long controlled media narratives surrounding the family and prioritised public image and brand partnerships over genuine family relationships. He said that since he began asserting boundaries, he has faced what he described as continued personal and public attacks, including negative stories placed in the press.
Rejecting suggestions that he is being influenced by his wife, Brooklyn said he felt controlled by his parents for much of his life and claimed that distancing himself from them has significantly improved his mental wellbeing. He concluded by saying that he and Nicola are seeking a private life focused on peace and happiness rather than public image.
David and Victoria Beckham, who also share sons Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper, have not publicly responded to the allegations. The Independent reported that representatives for the couple have been contacted for comment, while other members of the family have continued to share promotional content on social media unrelated to the dispute.
