Field Marshal Munir visits police academy, highlights modern policing

Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday visited the National Police Academy in Islamabad, where he engaged with officers from the Police Service of Pakistan.

Upon his arrival, Field Marshal Munir was greeted by the Commandant of the National Police Academy, and a guard of honour was presented by a police contingent. He laid a wreath at the Police Martyrs' Monument and offered Fateha, paying respects to police officers who had lost their lives in the line of duty while working to maintain peace, uphold the rule of law, and ensure public safety.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by police personnel in tackling terrorism, crime, and internal security challenges.

During the visit, the Field Marshal received a briefing on the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development and other police training programs focused on enhancing capacity and modernising the force. He also held discussions with Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), where he reiterated the role of the police as the first line of defence in protecting citizens’ lives, property, and dignity.

In a meeting with Inspectors General of Police (IGPs), Additional IGPs, and senior police officials, Field Marshal Munir emphasised the importance of inter-agency collaboration, modern policing techniques, and building public trust in law enforcement. He underscored the necessity of a strong, professional, and community-focused police force to ensure internal security and uphold the rule of law.
