The Population Welfare Department on Saturday organised an Education Family Planning Festival to promote public awareness about family planning, maternal and child health, and the importance of educating both boys and girls.
The event was held in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister and under the guidance of the provincial Health and Population Department. It was inaugurated by Ziaullah Shah, MPA (PML-N) and Parliamentary Secretary for WASA, who attended as the chief guest.
District Population Welfare Officer Rawalpindi, Shireen Sukhan, served as the chief organiser, while officials and staff of the district office actively participated in the arrangements, contributing to the success of the programme.
The festival was held under the slogans "Balanced Family, Prosperous Pakistan" and "Educated Mother, Educated Society", combining education with entertainment to effectively convey key messages to families.
Information stalls provided counselling on family planning for both men and women, while child health activities, recreational programmes and educational demonstrations kept visitors engaged. Awareness sessions highlighted the benefits of planned families, the challenges posed by rapid population growth, the importance of maternal and child health, and the equal value of educating daughters and sons.
A large number of men, women, families and children attended the event. Interactive sessions and artistic performances drew keen interest from participants.
