According to Morgan, the fall caused a fracture to his femur severe enough to require a full hip replacement. He confirmed that the surgery was successful and that he is now in recovery. Doctors have advised him to use crutches for the next six weeks, and he will be unable to travel long-haul for approximately 12 weeks as part of his rehabilitation.
Morgan also joked about the situation in his post, adding at the end that he “blamed Donald Trump” for the mishap, continuing his trademark tongue-in-cheek commentary.
The broadcaster later shared a similar update on Instagram, where he included an additional image of an X-ray showing the fracture. The post prompted an outpouring of support from followers, colleagues, and fellow media figures.
Journalist and broadcaster Emily Maitlis responded in the comments, writing, “Noooo. This is absurd,” accompanied by heart emojis. Many others wished Morgan a speedy and smooth recovery.
Morgan, known for his outspoken opinions and regular television appearances, has not indicated when he plans to return to work. His update suggests he will be focusing on recovery in the coming weeks as he adjusts to limited mobility following the surgery.
