ISLAMABAD:

As winter sets in, a health expert on Sunday advised the public to exercise moderation in their consumption of dry fruits and sweet or oily foods.

They also encouraged greater awareness of dietary choices during the colder months and recommended warming drinks such as kehwa and golden milk to help maintain energy and overall well-being.

Nutritionist Hina Anees explained that many people tend to overindulge in dry fruits, sugary treats and rich, oily foods during winter. While these items may offer comfort in chilly weather, excessive intake can lead to digestive discomfort, weight gain and other health concerns.

She stressed the importance of moderation and mindful eating as temperatures drop.

Anees further advised replacing repeated cups of coffee and regular tea with more nutritious, warming beverages such as kehwa and golden milk. These drinks, she noted, not only provide comfort in cold weather but also help strengthen immunity, aid digestion and sustain energy throughout the day.

Highlighting the importance of public awareness, she said: "Enjoy seasonal delights, but do so responsibly." Incorporating wholesome foods and nutritious drinks, she added, can ensure overall wellness while allowing people to savour the flavours of the season.

The nutritionist also underlined the benefits of including herbal teas and protein-rich foods—such as fish and lean meat—in winter diets
