TANDOJAM:

Experts on Thursday termed social inclusion a key prerequisite for youth empowerment and sustainable development, stressing that meaningful engagement of young people in education, skills development and decision-making is essential to address Pakistan's growing socio-economic challenges.

The views were expressed at a seminar held under the Student-Teacher Engagement Programme organised by Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam.

The event was addressed by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Altaf Ali Siyal, STEP Chairman Professor Dr Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Dr Tehseen Fatima Miyano, Dr Sohail Ahmed Otho, Mir Rahib Talpur and Fatima Nizamani.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Altaf Siyal said the present era demands more than academic qualifications and requires practical skills, professional competence and strong linkages with the private sector.

Professor Dr Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar said climate change and declining agricultural productivity were increasing economic pressure across Sindh and other parts of the country, with long-term consequences for the younger generation.

Dr Tehseen Fatima Miyano highlighted the importance of nutrition and food security, saying that empowerment, health and access to affordable, nutritious food were closely linked.

Other speakers emphasised social inclusion, gender equality and active participation of youth in academic and social spheres.
