SZA supports Hailey Bieber amid controversy over influencer relationship claims

SZA questions influencer qualifications and defends Hailey Bieber after viral video

Singer SZA has spoken out in defense of Hailey Bieber following online criticism of her marriage to Justin Bieber.

The situation began after influencer Julie Theis posted a video discussing what she described as unhealthy relationship dynamics, using Justin and Hailey Bieber as an example. Theis characterized the relationship as “abusive,” a claim that drew significant attention online. Hailey Bieber was later accused of reposting the video, an allegation she denied.

Tensions escalated when Theis claimed she received a cease-and-desist letter from Hailey Bieber’s public relations team. The letter reportedly demanded the removal of the video and described the claims as false, fabricated and defamatory, while warning of potential legal action if the content remained online.

SZA entered the discussion by commenting on Theis’ video, questioning whether the influencer was a licensed therapist or psychologist and expressing concern over the certainty with which the claims were presented. In response, Theis stated that she holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology and has experience as a behavioral specialist and researcher, though she clarified that she is not a licensed therapist and currently works as a content creator offering coaching and mentorship.

SZA replied again, acknowledging Theis’ educational background but warning against publicly diagnosing individuals without direct knowledge or contact. She suggested that presenting such assessments as fact could be harmful to all involved. Theis did not respond to SZA’s follow-up comment and has since defended her original video in subsequent content, stating that her remarks reflected personal opinion rather than professional diagnosis.
