KARACHI:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Thursday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was striving for the supremacy of the Constitution, rule of law and an independent judiciary, expressing confidence that "the sun of liberty will soon rise" and that PTI founder Imran Khan would be released soon.

He was speaking during a one-day visit to Karachi after offering condolences to the family of PTI worker Bilawal Mehsud, who was killed during a rally in Sohrab Goth. PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, Karachi President Raja Azhar and other party leaders were also present.

Upon arrival in Karachi, the chief minister travelled from the airport to Sohrab Goth in a convoy, where PTI leaders and workers, elders of the Pashtun community and others welcomed him.

Afridi said PTI was Pakistan's only national political movement and that every party worker stood united on Imran Khan's ideology. He termed Bilawal Mehsud a "martyr" and described PTI workers as the party's most valuable asset and a trust of Imran Khan.

"Our leader is in jail today, but we will not abandon his workers. If we do, the nation will not forgive us," he said, adding that the movement would continue to grow as long as even one ideological worker remained steadfast.

He expressed condolences to the bereaved family and said PTI stood by its workers in every joy and sorrow. "Our workers are shedding blood for true freedom and judicial independence. May Allah grant success to the movement started by Imran Khan," he said.
