Hans Zimmer to compose original score for HBO’s Harry Potter series
Hans Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music will score HBO’s Harry Potter series, reimagining the franchise’s music for TV

Hans Zimmer has been confirmed as the composer for HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television series, with his music company Bleeding Fingers Music set to create an original score for the highly anticipated adaptation.
The series is scheduled to debut in 2027 and will reintroduce J.K. Rowling’s beloved wizarding world in a long-form television format.
HBO’s Harry Potter series will adapt each of Rowling’s seven novels into individual seasons, beginning with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and concluding with Deathly Hallows. The project aims to offer a more expansive and detailed retelling of the story compared to the original film franchise.
In a joint statement, Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman said they are honored to contribute to a franchise with such a powerful musical legacy. They emphasized the responsibility of honoring the original sound while bringing a fresh emotional dimension suited to prestige television storytelling.
The Harry Potter films were previously scored by several acclaimed composers, including John Williams, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Alexandre Desplat. Zimmer’s involvement signals a new musical direction while maintaining continuity with the franchise’s iconic themes and tone.
Bleeding Fingers Music, founded by Zimmer over a decade ago, has become a major force in film and television scoring and is set to open a new London office later this year as part of its global expansion. Zimmer himself remains in high demand, with recent and upcoming projects including Dune: Part Three, HBO’s Euphoria, and the film F1, for which he is currently Oscar-shortlisted.
The HBO series will star newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, alongside veteran actors John Lithgow, Paapa Essiedu, and Janet McTeer in key roles.
