Comedian Nikki Glaser is looking back with humour and gratitude on one of her earliest Hollywood gigs, babysitting for filmmaker Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann long before she became a household name. The revelation came into the spotlight after the 2026 Golden Globes, where Apatow, 58, surprised the audience by revealing that Glaser, now 41, used to watch his children.
“You know, Nikki Glaser used to be our babysitter,” Apatow declared on stage during the ceremony, where Glaser served as host. “That’s true, she was our babysitter and she was like, ‘I do stand up comedy.’”
The story didn’t end there. Appearing on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM after the awards, Glaser opened up about those early days and the surprisingly generous rate she earned. “This was 2007, I think it was like $35, $40 an hour,” she said, adding with a laugh that it was “more than I’d ever been paid to babysit.”
Glaser also reflected on how kind the Apatow kids were when she was on duty. “Their kids were so sweet, they were so funny,” she remembered, noting that the job was “easy” because of how delightful Maude and Iris Apatow were.
One memory from her babysitting days stands out above the rest: an unexpected phone call. Glaser recalled when actor Adam Sandler rang the house while she was babysitting. “He was like, ‘Hello.’ I was like, ‘Hi,’” she said. “And he was like, ‘Hello, Maude, this is Adam.’ I was like, ‘Oh no, this is the babysitter.’” She added with fondness, “That was my first interaction with Adam Sandler and I have loved him ever since.”
