Hytale launches bug bounty programme offering more than $25,000 for finding bugs
Hytale developers introduced bug bounty programme, offering rewards of over $25,000 for verified security issues

Hytale developers have announced a new bug bounty programme, offering players rewards of more than $25,000 for identifying and reporting serious security-related bugs and vulnerabilities in the game.
The initiative comes shortly after Hytale’s early access launch, which has drawn significant attention. The sandbox title became the most-watched game on Twitch shortly after release and reportedly reached 2.8 million concurrent players. As with many early access launches, the game has also experienced technical issues and bugs.
To address potential risks, the developers are placing a strong emphasis on security. Details of the bug bounty programme were shared in a post on X by a member of the development team, who thanked security researchers already working with the studio.
The developer stated that the programme offers payouts of “over $25k+ depending on severity”, with rewards available for authentication issues and client or server exploits. They added that bounties have already been paid out and that reported issues are being addressed as they are received.
Players who wish to take part can submit reports directly to Hytale’s security team. If an issue is validated and qualifies for a reward, the team will triage the report and provide updates on its progress. The developers have made clear that not all reports will qualify for a bounty.
According to information published on Hytale’s official website, only players aged 18 and over are eligible to receive payouts. All testing must be conducted using the player’s own account, and participants are encouraged to review the full list of rules before submitting any findings.
The development team has previously acknowledged that Hytale remains a work in progress. In a recent blog post, they explained that only two months had passed since the studio reacquired the game’s rights, during which time the team prepared the early access build and rebuilt development operations.
The developers noted that launch week may be “bumpy” but said they are actively working to resolve issues and support players as development continues.
