Teyana Taylor says she won’t 'abandon' Kanye West despite his antisemitic controversies

Teyana Taylor is making headlines not just for her award‑winning performances, but also for her candid comments about her ongoing relationship with Kanye West, even amid his highly publicised antisemitic controversies.

The Golden Globe–winning actress and singer addressed why she still considers West a close friend, despite disagreeing with aspects of his behavior and statements.

Taylor, 35, acknowledged that while she doesn’t support everything West has done or said, that disagreement hasn’t led her to publicly cut ties with him. “I don’t have to agree with everything that he do or say, but I’m not going to, like, abandon him and be like, ‘Yeah, eff that motherf—–,’” she said, comparing their bond to the way family members can disagree but remain connected.

“My brothers do s— that I don’t agree with… I don’t get into none of that,” she added, reaffirming her belief in maintaining the relationship even through disagreement.

Taylor also emphasized her willingness to be honest with West when necessary. “If you want a real answer, you ask me. So if he asks me something, he knows he’s gonna get a real answer,” she said, suggesting that their friendship allows for direct communication rather than avoidance.

The pair’s long history stretches back to Taylor’s early career, when she was signed to West’s G.O.O.D. Music label in 2012 and worked with him on several projects, including his critically acclaimed album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and the music video for his song “Fade.”

Taylor’s comments come amid intense public scrutiny of West’s past antisemitic remarks, which drew widespread condemnation and led to professional fallout for the rapper. While West has since made statements distancing himself from antisemitism, many of his actions continue to generate debate and concern within the industry.
