Joe Keery, best known for his role as Steve Harrington on Stranger Things, has become the centre of a fresh wave of Marvel Cinematic Universe casting speculation, prompting fans online to theorise wildly about his possible superhero future. Rumours that Marvel Studios has shown interest in Keery for an as-yet-undisclosed MCU role have resurfaced in recent days, sending social platforms into full fan-casting mode as supporters pitch a variety of iconic characters for him.

According to multiple entertainment rumour reports, Marvel is “eyeing” Keery as it builds toward its next cinematic era, widely believed to be the so-called ‘Mutant Saga’ which will introduce fresh heroes and legacy characters to the franchise. While Marvel has made no official casting announcements, the buzz centres on Keery’s chemistry with the franchise’s evolving tone and his proven ability to balance comedy, charm and on-screen depth.

The speculation has been fuelled further by online chatter spreading across Reddit and other fan communities, where users have offered their own dream roles for Keery. Suggestions include major names like Harry Osborn, Peter Parker’s best friend in the Spider-Man comics, as well as darker anti-heroes like Ghost Rider or even X-Men characters such as Cyclops or Nova. In one popular Reddit thread, fans debated how well he could embody these varied roles, with some arguing that his likability and range make him a fit for both light-hearted and more intense Marvel characters.

The rumours come amid a broader swirl of franchise casting news, including fellow Stranger Things alum Sadie Sink’s confirmed involvement in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day project. If Keery were to join the MCU, it would mark another significant crossover from the Netflix hit into Marvel’s blockbuster universe and further stoke conversation about the franchise’s direction post-Secret Wars.

As of yet, Marvel Studios has not responded to or confirmed any of the casting rumours.
