Becca Tobin criticises Hilary Duff’s husband over ‘toxic’ mum group comments

'Glee' star Becca Tobin criticised Matthew Koma after he commented on essay about leaving a ‘toxic’ mum group

Becca Tobin has spoken publicly about comments made by Matthew Koma, the husband of Hilary Duff, following online discussion around an essay about leaving a “toxic” mum group. The comments were addressed during an episode of the LadyGang podcast, which Tobin cohosts with Keltie Knight and Jac Vanek.

The discussion follows an essay written by Ashley Tisdale French for The Cut, in which she described distancing herself from a mum group without naming individuals.

Social media users speculated about the identities involved, linking the essay to figures including Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore and Meghan Trainor, based on previous public appearances.

Koma later weighed in on the situation via social media, prompting criticism from Tobin. Speaking on the podcast, Tobin said, “I don’t think there’s any loser. There’s no loser in this group to me. Not one. Except for Hillary Duff’s husband.”

She continued, “I think it is so gross when husbands jump in and get petty,” adding that Ashley Tisdale French “did not name names.” Tobin said, “If Ashley had come out and said Hillary was said person being a mean girl, I would understand the husband coming to her defence.”

Tobin further criticised Koma’s involvement, stating, “I really am rubbed the wrong way when a man inserts himself like this and it’s solely for him to get attention.”

She later added, “He attacked a woman. He called her self-obsessed or whatever,” and described his comments as “tacky” and “offensive.”

Vanek suggested on the podcast that Koma’s response may have intensified speculation about the essay’s subject. Koma’s post included the text, “Read my new interview with [The Cut]. A mom group tell-all through a father’s eyes. When you’re the most self obsessed tone deaf person on earth, other moms tend to shift focus to their actual toddlers.”
