Michelle Williams has been confirmed to join Daniel Craig and Cillian Murphy in Damien Chazelle’s upcoming untitled film, Variety reports.

The project, reportedly set in a prison, is written, directed, and produced by Chazelle in collaboration with Olivia Hamilton under their Wild Chickens Productions banner.

The movie marks a new chapter for Chazelle, who is seeking a comeback following the box office struggles of his 2022 film, Babylon. Despite this, Chazelle remains one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed directors, with a portfolio including La La Land, Whiplash, and First Man. Paramount Pictures will distribute the new project.

Williams, a five-time Oscar nominee, recently won a Golden Globe for her performance in FX’s Dying for Sex. She has previously appeared in critically acclaimed films such as Blue Valentine, Brokeback Mountain, The Fabelmans, Manchester by the Sea, and My Week With Marilyn. She is also currently performing on stage in Eugene O’Neill’s Anna Christie at St. Ann’s Warehouse.

Cillian Murphy, an Oscar-winning actor for Oppenheimer, and Daniel Craig, known for his recent appearances in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and Queer, round out the film’s leading cast. Chazelle had previously been linked to an Evel Knievel biopic, which has reportedly been delayed.

Williams is also slated to appear in A Place in Hell, directed by Chloe Domont and co-starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Andrew Scott. The collaboration with Craig and Murphy positions Williams at the center of one of the year’s most anticipated film projects, signaling a high-profile return to cinema under Chazelle’s direction.

This film is expected to attract attention from critics and audiences alike, combining Chazelle’s cinematic vision with a powerhouse cast of award-winning talent.
