Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, revealing a formidable new kaiju antagonist named Titan X.
The Monsterverse series, which expands the shared universe of Godzilla and Kong, continues directly from the events of season 1, with the main characters stranded on Skull Island.
Season 2 centers on the mysterious activities of Apex Cybernetics, which has established a research facility on the island. The trailer suggests the company’s experiments may have unintended consequences, as rifts connected to the Hollow Earth allow Titan X to escape into the surface world. According to the footage, Titan X is presented as a significantly larger and more dangerous threat than either Godzilla or Kong.
Kurt Russell’s Lee Shaw appears to be the first character to encounter Titan X, linking the present-day threat to Monarch’s past. The trailer also references cave paintings discovered years earlier by a younger Bill Randa, suggesting Titan X has long been part of ancient Titan mythology. This connection reinforces the Monsterverse’s ongoing theme of humanity uncovering truths buried deep within Earth’s history.
With escalating stakes, expanded Hollow Earth lore, and a new kaiju menace, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 appears set to significantly broaden the scope of the Monsterverse when it returns to Apple TV+.
