Actor and director Timothy Busfield remains unaccounted for days after an arrest warrant was issued in New Mexico, prompting the US Marshals Service to step in and assist local police with locating him.
Authorities confirmed that efforts to find Busfield are ongoing, three days after the warrant was issued and initial attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.
The 68-year-old, known for roles in The West Wing and The Cleaning Lady, is wanted on multiple charges, including two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse.
The allegations involve two 11-year-old twin boys, with one of the children saying that the inappropriate conduct began when he was 7 years old, according to court documents.
The arrest warrant was issued by the Albuquerque Police Department after investigators determined there was probable cause to move forward with charges.
A police spokesperson confirmed that Busfield could not be located in the days immediately following the warrant’s issuance, leading authorities to request assistance from the US Marshals. As of now, officials have not confirmed that he has been arrested or taken into custody.
The investigation reportedly began in November 2024, when concerns were raised by medical staff at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Police initially did not pursue charges at that time, but the case was reopened after additional information was provided in 2025. Busfield has denied the allegations through representatives, with claims that the accusations are tied to disputes related to his professional work.
Busfield is married to actress Melissa Gilbert, who has not been implicated in the case. She has not publicly commented on the situation. Authorities have also declined to provide further details about the search or Busfield’s possible whereabouts.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials say Busfield’s location remains unknown, and they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
