TALAGANG:

The Talagang administration on Monday dismantled an organised international flour smuggling network following effective planning and coordinated action under the leadership of the Assistant Commissioner.

According to official sources, timely and stringent measures by the district administration led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of flour being transported illegally, a development expected to help ease the local shortage of the commodity.

For several days, smugglers had been attempting to move flour unlawfully from various districts of Punjab through Talagang to Afghanistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Chakwal, Sarah Hayat Gondal, Assistant Commissioner Suleman Manshah ordered immediate action.

Personnel from the Special Management Unit, Civil Defence and the police were deployed at Al-Hasnain Chowk, Talagang, and on adjoining roads. During the operation, the teams swiftly intercepted a container carrying approximately 2,500 bags of flour. In a parallel operation, the Special Management Unit seized three ten-wheeler trucks involved in the smuggling of nearly 51 tonnes of wheat. As the crackdown continued, another team detained a vehicle driven by a man identified as Mudassir Shah.
