NEPRA maintains basic power tariff nationwide

The regulatory authority confirms the new basic tariff will take effect from January 1, 2026

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved the federal government’s request to maintain electricity tariffs across the country, deciding to keep prices unchanged at the basic rate.

Following a hearing on the uniform tariff, NEPRA sent its decision to the federal government, which will issue the final notification.

According to the decision, there will be no change in the basic tariff for consumers nationwide, including those served by K-Electric. NEPRA confirmed that the new basic tariff will take effect from January 1, 2026.

The decision also outlined the specific tariffs for different categories of domestic consumers. For protected consumers, the tariff will remain at Rs10.54 per unit for 1 to 100 units, and Rs13.01 per unit for 101 to 200 units.

For non-protected domestic consumers, the tariff will remain at Rs22.44 per unit for 1 to 100 units and Rs28.91 per unit for 101 to 200 units.

The tariff for 201 to 300 units will be Rs33.10 per unit, for 301 to 400 units Rs37.99 per unit, and for 401 to 500 units Rs40.22 per unit. For 501 to 600 units, the tariff will remain at Rs41.62 per unit, and for 601 to 700 units, it will remain at Rs42.76 per unit.

The maximum tariff for domestic users has been maintained at Rs47.69 per unit.
