Guy Moon, the Emmy Award-nominated composer best known for his work on Nickelodeon’s animated series The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom, has died at the age of 63.

According to a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner and a statement from his family, Moon died on Thursday from traumatic injuries sustained in a traffic collision. His family confirmed the news in a post shared on Facebook.

“We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life,” the family wrote. “He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.”

Moon was a four-time Emmy nominee and served as composer on The Fairly OddParents throughout its entire 10-season run on Nickelodeon, from 2001 to 2017. His distinctive musical style became a defining element of the series’ long-lasting popularity. He also composed music for several other animated productions, including Danny Phantom, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Bunsen Is a Beast, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle,  and the 1992 animated series The Addams Family.

Throughout his career, Moon frequently collaborated with Nickelodeon. His credits include The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour television movies, Big Time Rush from 2010 to 2013, and Big Time Movie in 2012. Beyond television, his work extended to feature films such as The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel, The Crash, and The Green Vail.

Moon’s family said they are tentatively planning a celebration of his life on his birthday, February 7, in the Los Angeles area, with a further event to follow in his hometown in Wisconsin.
