Politics is a sacred institution designed to govern and safeguard the interests of society. When approached with sincerity and a commitment to the common good, politics has the power to uplift and transform communities. However, in recent times, the association between politics and crime has tainted the perception of this noble endeavour. It is mandatory to recognise that true politics, when pursued for the benefit of the people, has the mandate to prosperity, justice and societal well-being.

As generally believed, politics is the art of governance, a means through which societies organise themselves to collective needs and aspirations. The political arena serves as a platform for debate, compromise and decision-making, laying the foundation for laws and policies that shape the daily lives of citizens. It is the mechanism through which diverse voices come together to chart a course for progress, development and social harmony.

True politics revolves around the creation and implementation of policies that prioritise the well-being of the populace. It involves resolve issues such as healthcare, education, infrastructure and social security. Through thoughtful policy formulation, governments can uplift deprived communities, bridge socioeconomic gaps and ensure that no citizen is left behind.

There is a safety for the fundamental rights and liberties of citizens. It is through political institutions that the rule of law is established, providing a framework to protect individuals from discrimination, injustice, and abuse. A robust political system ensures that every citizen enjoys the fruits of democracy, with equal access to justice and opportunities.

Political decisions play a crucial role in shaping economic policies that drive prosperity. Sound economic governance, guided by political leaders with the best interests of the people in mind, can lead to job creation, sustainable development and a thriving economy. When politics is free from corruption and vested interests, the nation's wealth is distributed equitably, benefiting all strata of society.

Through the political process, societies navigate the complexities of diversity. True politics embraces an environment where people from different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs coexist harmoniously. It is a force that unites rather than divides, promoting social cohesion and national unity.

On the international stage, politics allows nations to engage in diplomacy. Global challenges such as climate change, pandemics and economic instability require coordinated political action. True politics, focused on the greater good, enables nations to work together for the benefit of humanity as a whole.

While the essence of politics is noble, the unfortunate reality is that some individuals engage in criminal activities under the guise of political influence. Corruption, bribery and abuse of power tarnish the sanctity of the political process.

Governments must bolster legal frameworks to ensure that those who engage in criminal activities under the guise of politics face swift and severe consequences. Transparency and accountability mechanisms, along with an independent judiciary, are essential in curbing corruption and criminal behavior within political spheres.

An informed and engaged citizenry is a powerful force against political crime. Public awareness, media scrutiny and civic education can empower citizens to hold their leaders accountable. With active role in the political process, people contribute to the creation of a political landscape free from criminal influences.

The onus is on political leaders to lead by example. Ethical conduct, transparency and a commitment to public service should be the guiding principles of those in positions of power. Political parties and institutions should prioritise the selection and grooming of leaders who respect these values.

The sanctity of politics lies in its potential to bring societal well-being. True politics is a force for good, making policies that uplift communities, protect rights and attain prosperity. As citizens, we must actively engage in the political process, demanding transparency, accountability and ethical leadership to ensure that politics remains a sacred institution dedicated to the betterment of society.
