Actress Demi Moore has opened up about a personal and lighthearted tradition she shared with her former husband Bruce Willis, revealing how a simple ritual became a lasting part of their life together and continued for years.
Moore shared the story during a special screening of Song Sung Blue in Los Angeles, where she was joined by the film’s star Kate Hudson. The movie, which centers on a Neil Diamond cover band, sparked a vivid memory for Moore about Willis’s longtime love of the iconic singer.
“This is a little personal thing, but Bruce always had every week, Neil Diamond Day,” Moore said. She explained that Willis would dedicate one day a week entirely to playing Neil Diamond’s music. “Watching the movie just kept reminding me of when he would blast Neil Diamond, and I’d say, ‘What’s going on?’ And he said, ‘No, it’s Neil Diamond Day.’”
According to Moore, the ritual was far from a short-lived habit. “He played Neil throughout the day. He kept on doing that for years,” she said, adding with a smile, “He was a huge Neil fan. And so am I!”
Moore and Willis were married from 1987 to 2000 and share three daughters — Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. Although their marriage ended more than two decades ago, they have remained close and supportive as co-parents, maintaining a strong bond within their blended family.
Reflecting on the screening, Moore also praised Song Sung Blue and its cast, including Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman, calling the film generous in spirit. “The generosity of what this film is, what your performance is, Hugh’s, also the kids — I thought they were extraordinary,” she said.
Moore’s recollection of “Neil Diamond Day” offers a rare glimpse into the warmth and humor that characterized her relationship with Willis, highlighting how small, joyful traditions can leave a lasting imprint long after a marriage has evolved.
