A video of Timothée Chalamet and Adam Sandler playing basketball against two students from Fairfax High School has gone viral, and it turns out the Hollywood duo didn’t come out on top. In footage shared online, the pair can be seen out on a court in Los Angeles facing off in a friendly 2-on-2 match that ultimately ended with the students defeating both actors.

Chalamet, dressed casually in a full-sleeve white shirt and black pants, takes several shots during the clip but struggles to convert early attempts. The high-schoolers seize the ball and quickly make a basket, while Sandler and Chalamet exchange looks and regroup as they try to regain possession. The pair repeatedly pass between each other as they try to mount a comeback, and Sandler eventually sinks at least one shot, but the teens still come out ahead in the friendly game.

Sandler later recounted the moment on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, explaining the circumstances behind the match. He said that he and Chalamet had been participating in a Netflix event at the school gym when organisers suggested a spontaneous basketball game with audience members. Sandler joked to the talk-show host that the two high-school players “beat us,” and that they were ‘cool as hell’ about their win.

The light-hearted competition added a fun twist to what was otherwise an interview and Q&A session about Chalamet’s and Sandler’s respective careers, Chalamet promoting his acclaimed work and Sandler his latest projects.
