KUTF dominates Karachi University syndicate elections
Karachi University Teachers Forum secures three seats while Teacher Alliance for Good Governance wins only one seat

The official results of the Karachi University Syndicate elections for four faculty seats have been announced, with the Karachi University Teachers Forum (KUTF) securing a majority of the seats. The Teacher Alliance for Good Governance (TAGG) managed to win one seat.
According to the final results, KUTF candidates won the seats for Professor, Assistant Professor, and Lecturer, while TAGG emerged victorious in the Associate Professor category.
In the Professor category, Professor Anila Amber Malik, contesting as an independent candidate, faced her former group colleague, current Dean of Pharmacy Haris Shoaib. Representing KUTF, Shoaib won the seat with 60 votes, while Anila received 31 votes. Dr Muhammad Ali secured 13 votes in the same contest.
In the Assistant Professor category, Gufran Alam, the current president of the Karachi University Teachers Association, won the seat with 135 votes.
For the Associate Professor seat, Mohsin Ali, former president of the Teachers Association who had recently lost in association elections, secured victory with 67 votes. This was the only seat won by TAGG, while his competitor Muhammad Ayaz received 22 votes.
On the Lecturer seat, Shumaila Samad Khan emerged successful with 32 votes, defeating Kashif Riaz, who received 16 votes, and Nasir Akhtar, who secured 12 votes.
The results highlight KUTF’s continued dominance in the Karachi University Syndicate, while TAGG has managed to establish its presence in the governing body with a single seat.
