Marcello Hernández has addressed online speculation after sharing social media posts that appeared to suggest he had married, prompting confusion among fans of the Saturday Night Live performer.

On January 7, Hernández posted a black-and-white video on Instagram that showed him dressing in a tuxedo, opening champagne, posing with friends, and sharing a moment with his mother, Isabel Cancela, as she adjusted his bow tie. The imagery led some viewers to conclude that the comedian was preparing for a wedding.

Fans linked the post to Hernández’s relationship with Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral, a New York-based architect and designer he has been dating since 2025. The pair have attended several public events together, including a Met Gala afterparty and film premieres in New York. Representatives for Hernández and Saturday Night Live did not immediately comment following the initial post.

The following day, Hernández shared a second video that clarified the situation. The clip shows him standing in a church, positioned as if at a wedding ceremony, before revealing that the figure opposite him is a floral-decorated poster promoting his comedy special, Marcello Hernández: American Boy. In the video, Hernández says, “Hello, everyone, my name is Marcello Hernández, and my special is out now on Netflix.”

His mother also appears in the follow-up video, reacting emotionally to the staged scene. The comedy special premiered on Netflix on January 7.

Saturday Night Live is set to return on January 17 with Finn Wolfhard as host and A$AP Rocky as musical guest, followed by additional episodes later in the month featuring Teyana Taylor and Alexander Skarsgård.
