IShowSpeed competes in sprint against a cheetah as new viral video circulates

IShowSpeed has shared footage of himself taking part in a sprint race against a cheetah, marking his most unusual challenge to date as part of his ongoing series of athletic stunts.
The 20-year-old streamer, whose real name is Darren Watkins, uploaded the footage to his YouTube channel, where it quickly drew attention. Known for racing professional athletes and public figures, IShowSpeed has recently built a reputation for testing his speed against increasingly high-profile opponents.

In November 2024, he went viral after competing against Olympic gold medallist Noah Lyles in a 50-metre sprint with $100,000 at stake. While IShowSpeed started strongly, Lyles ultimately pulled ahead to secure victory in a race that proved closer than many viewers expected. He has also raced Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and defeated fitness influencer and former American football running back Ashton Hall multiple times.
In his latest challenge, IShowSpeed lined up alongside a cheetah, an animal capable of reaching speeds of between 60 and 75 miles per hour. The animal was held in a cage before being released at the same time as the streamer, who took his position and sprinted forward when the race began. Overhead footage showed IShowSpeed running shirtless alongside the cheetah for the duration of the short sprint.
As expected, the cheetah finished ahead, though the streamer reacted with humour at the finish. Appearing breathless, he claimed, “I won?!” before adding, “I am Speed!” as he addressed viewers. The video has since attracted millions of views.
IShowSpeed has said previously that he hopes to compete at the Olympics one day. His “Speed goes Pro” series has seen him attempt a range of sports, including American football with Tom Brady and professional wrestling with assistance from Randy Orton.
